Soul Jazz Records

Soul Jazz Records is a British based record label that started in the early nineties. They release compilations of predominately black music, including soul, dub, reggae, and jazz. More recently they have expanded their catalog with some pretty amazing post-punk, electronica, and world music albums. Below are some choice songs for your listening pleasure.....

The Sisters Love were an early 70's soul and funk troupe, born from the ashes of Ray Charles' back up group The Raelets.
Give Me Your Love - The Sisters Love

Marilyn Barbarin is featured on the compilation New Orleans Funk: The Original Sounds Of Funk 1960-75. Her voice reminds me of Candi Staton. She seems like a pretty groovy lady.

Reborn - Marilyn Barbarin

This Next track is from the compilation titled The Sexual Life of The Savages. The record traces the story of Brazilian musicians who gathered influence from U.S. acts like ESG, Liquid Liquid and Arto Lindsay.
Tao Perto - Cabine C

Mantronix is the best of the NY club scene from the 1980s. The album features a mix of old-school hip hop, disco, electro, and club tracks.
Ladies (Full Length) - Mantronix

This track is off a 12" release called
Big Apple Rappin'. Soul Jazz will release a Big Apple Rappin' 2x double album in early '09.

T Ski Valley / Catch the Beat (Dimi & Mousse Ts Old School Mix) - Various

This track is off the compilation
Miami Sound: Rare Funk and Soul from Miami, Florida 1967-74. Helene Smith was a leading gal in he Miami Soul scene, along side the great Betty Wright.
You Got To Be A Man - Helene Smith

The Last two tracks are from one of my all time favorite albums -
New York Noise Volume 1: Dance Music from the New York Underground.

Liquid Liquid was a NY City post punk band that was active from 1980-83. This track is super hot!

Optimo - Liquid Liquid

And Finally, the great great
